JAKARTA Prima Pramac Racing racer, Jorge Martin, remains at the top of the 2024 MotoGP drivers' standings after the Mandalika Grand Prix is completed.

The Spanish rider kept his hopes of becoming the champion of this season after winning the 15th series at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Sunday, September 29 yesterday.

In the race, Martin finished fastest with a time of 41 minutes 04.389 seconds. He is ahead of rookie compatriot Pedro Askosta who finished second with a time difference of +1.404 seconds.

This is Martin's third win of the season. He had previously secured the first two podiums in the second series in Portugal and the fifth series in France.

The victory in Mandalika made the 26-year-old rider collect a total of 366 points. He is now ahead of 21 points over defending Italian champion Francesco Bagnaia, in second place in the standings.

Before the Mandalika series, the two champion competitors were 24 points adrift. However, Bagnaia cut the gap by three points after winning the sprint race and then managed to finish third in the race.

The distance between these figures makes the two riders likely to compete until the end of the season to lock up the title. There are still five series left they still have to face.

The five series started in a row from Japan (4-6 October), Australia (18-20 October), Thailand (25-27 October), Malaysia (1-3 November), and the top series in Valencia on 15-17 November.

Apart from Martin and Bagnaia, the competition for champions is also still open for Enea Bastianini (291 points) and Marc Marquez (288 points) who are currently ranked third and fourth in the standings.
