JAKARTA Indonesia has temporarily secured four gold medals from the 2024 Wushu Junior World Championship which will take place in Brunei Darussalam.

One of the gold medals was secured by athlete Agni Agustine Dimonim, who previously won a gold medal at the XXI Aceh-North Aceh National Sports Week (PON) 2024.

The athlete who is familiarly called Agni won a gold medal in the women's B category number by pocketing 8.870 points on Friday, September 27, 2024.

"I feel very happy for sure and didn't expect the results because the training period was very short," said Agni in a statement received.

The 14-year-old girl, who previously won the nanquan number silver medal, successfully defeated Brunei Darussalam's host athlete, Wan Xin Lim.

Lim had to settle for a silver medal after winning 8,850 points. Meanwhile, the bronze medalist from this number is Iranian athlete, Chek Sana, who has 8.816 points.

The other three athletes who got gold were Hideki Hartanto in the men's junior C number, Lawrence Dean Kurnia in the men's junior A category, and Zivan Abimanyu Rasenderia in the men's junior C category changquan number.

The manager of the Indonesian wushu team, Herman Wijaya, said that Indonesia's chances of increasing the gold medal were still open because there were four Indonesian sanda athletes to the semifinals.
