JAKARTA The young Indonesian badminton player is preparing to appear at the 2024 Junior World Championships by adapting to the new format.

The prestigious tournament will take place next week in Nanchang, China. The Indonesian squad will go there on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The match will begin with a team number known as the Suhandinata Cup on September 30 to October 5, 2024 and will continue to the individual number on October 7-13, 2024.

Pratama men's singles coach, Nunung Subandoro, said that the change in the point calculation format applied in the event was the focus of the team's preparation before leaving there.

"This change in score is interesting. We have carried out yesterday's simulation as a form of adaptation and their competing experience," said Nunung in a statement received from PBSI.

The new format of the score to be applied is the relay point with a total of 110 points. This is very different from badminton which has been synonymous with a score of 21 x 3.

This system makes one match filled with 10 parties consisting of two men's singles, two women's singles, two men's doubles, two women's doubles, and two mixed doubles.

The first match of the match was looking for 11 points with a rally point without settings, while the second and next match would be cumulative.

"Preparation has been good. We have held a training camp since the completion of the last Asian Junior Championship. From this team, several people get matches at the senior level as an important provision," said Nunung.

Badminton player Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari admitted that all players already understand the use of this format. According to him, this system will be very challenging.

"In my opinion, with a system like this, all countries have a chance to win. It's very challenging, but very interesting. It's like playing a relay and the points can keep chasing," said Mutiara.
