Anthony Joshua Doesn't Want To Retire After Losing KO Against Daniel Dubois

JAKARTA Former integrated heavyweight world champion twice from England, Anthony Joshua (AJ), refuses to retire after suffering the worst defeat of his career against Daniel Dubois for the race for the IBF belt.

AJ lost his fourth in 11 years of his career when he met Dubois at Wembley Stadium, England, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, morning WIB. In the duel, AJ fell four times before being beaten by knockout (KO) in the fifth round.

Joshua said after the duel that he still didn't want to hang up his boxing gloves, especially since he had a rematch clause.

Klausul is an opportunity that can be used to take revenge for her compatriot.

"Of course I want to keep fighting. We live to fight the other day. That's me, a fighter," Anthony told the media as quoted by Boxing Scene.

The victory over Joshua made Dubois officially a real IBF champion after previously interim. This result is actually quite surprising because the 27-year-old fighter was not seeded at all before the clashes.

Eddie Hearn as Joshua's promoter hinted that his client still had the passion to get into the ring again using the rematch clause against Dubois.

"I think (Joshua) will use the rematch clause, I think it's certain. He needs to rest and it's a dangerous fight. He's going to be sure that he can hurt Dubois. He's going to be sure that he can beat him," Hearn said.

Joshua, who now has a record (28-4, 25 KOs), previously suffered his first defeat in June 2019 against Andy Ruiz Jr. He then avenge the defeat in the rematch in December of the same year.

AJ's second defeat followed after that when they met their champion Ukraine, Oleksandr Usyk, in September 2021. Less than a year, these two names returned to a duel, but Joshua lost again.

In addition to the possibility of a rematch with Dubois, Joshua is also likely to get into the ring against Tyson Fury. The duel between AJ and Fury, including one of the most awaited parties to date.
