The Threat Of Dismissal Of Paulo Fonseca If AC Milan Loses In Derby Della Madonnina

JAKARTA - Derby della Madonnina will determine the fate of AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca. If he loses the derby against Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A competition, Monday, September 23, 2024 in the morning WIB, Fonseca will be fired.

The 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League is a signal that Fonseca's position is on the brink. Previously, Milan reaped unsatisfactory results when starting the Italian Serie A competition. From the first four matches, Milan only won 4-0 over Venezia's promotion team.

As a result, Milan was ranked 10th by collecting five points. Milan hopes to show a revival when they host Liverpool in the Champions League. But that hope did not come true. Don't win, Milan even lost quite badly against Liverpool.

The defeat made Fonseca's performance get a red report card. Unfortunately Milan received ridicule from their own supporters. Fonseca itself has been evaluated by Zlatan Ibrahmovic along with club officials, Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani after the defeat.

Ibrahimovic is actually not a member of the club's board of directors. But he is a personal advisor to Gerry Cardinale, owner of RedBird Capital who controls the majority of Milan. Even Ibra played a major role in recruiting players.

From that evaluation, Fonseca will be given the opportunity in the match against one city rival, Inter. If he loses in the Milano Derby, Fonseca will be dismissed. Rumors circulated that Fonseca was temporarily maintained until Milan reached an agreement with the coach who replaced him.

This shows that Fonseca will not last long. He did not only face a test in the match against Inter. The problem is, this former AS Roma coach does not have a close relationship with Ibrahimovic who actually has an important role in dealing with the team. Even Fonseca tends to be against the figure who last played in Milan before retiring.

Fonsea will be the target of shooting over Rossoneri's poor form but also the different attitude he shows towards Ibrahimovic. When the club signed Youssouf Fofana, he said that this would be Milan's last signing.

But Ibrahimovic immediately denied it. Milan only stopped buying players if it was him himself who said it. Ibrahimovic's statement made Fonseca disappointed because there was friction between the coach and management. Fonseca also complained to the board of directors. But there was no response.

Not only that, Ibrahimovic often entered the dressing room and held meetings with players without Fonseca's presence. Even the meeting could delay the team's training schedule. Finally, the team's training ahead of the derby was late because Ibrahimovic was still talking to players without a coach.

Meanwhile, a number of media in Italy have mentioned a number of coaches who are candidates to replace Fonseca. Milan is said to have been in contact with Edin Terzic, the former Borussia Dortmund coach. Terzic himself did not yet have a club after resigning as Dortmund coach after bringing him to the Champions League final.

Apart from Terzic, the names that surfaced included Maurizio Sarri, Massimiliano Allegi, Thomas Tuchel and even David Moyes.

Allegri himself had handled Milan from 2010 to 2014. He led Milan to win the 2011 Scudetto and Supercopa de Italiana.
