Jokowi Cancels Attending Closing Of PON 2024

President Jokowi canceled the closing of the 2024 PON (doc. President of the Republic of Indonesia).

It is certain that the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo will not be able to attend the closing ceremony of the Aceh-Sumut 2024 National Sports Week (PON).

The biggest four-year event in Indonesia will officially close on Friday, September 20, 2024, tonight at 20.00 WIB, at the North Sumatra Main Stadium, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra.

Head of the Media and Public Relations Division of the Supervisory and Steering Committee (Panwasrah) of PON XXI 2024 for the North Sumatra region, Raja Parlindungan Pane, said that Jokowi would be represented by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendi.

"We hope that this moment can continue to be lively and be a beautiful closing for the biggest sporting event in the country," he said in a statement received.

The closure of PON XXI is planned to continue to be lively as at the opening at the Harapan Bangsa Aceh Stadium. Various cultural arts performances from North Sumatra and Aceh packaged in ethnic music and dance will entertain thousands of spectators.

North Sumatra original musician Viky Sianipar and Begantong Bee Malay music group will reportedly collaborate on the event.

Beggantong bees will appear in two sessions, each in the afternoon at 16.00 WIB with a duration of one hour and at night at 21.00 WIB. They then continued to collaborate with Viky Sianipar and all the artists in the evening session.

Raja mengungkapkan bahwa dalam kesempatan tersebut Menko PMK juga akan memberikan penghargaan bagi atlet dan kontingen terbaik.

"This closure is not only a symbol of the end of PON XXI, but also as an appreciation event for all athletes, coaches, and committees who have worked hard for the success of this event," he said.
