Commission X DPR RI Requests Case Of Beating Referee In XXI 2024 PON Football To Be Investigated

Commission X DPR RI asked PSSI and relevant stakeholders to conduct a special investigation regarding the incident of beating referees in Aceh men's soccer match against Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) in the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON.

"We urge a special investigation regarding the incident of beating referees in a soccer match that brings together the NAD (Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam) and Central Sulawesi teams," Huda said in a statement received by Antara in Medan, North Sumatra, Monday.

He then hoped that those who were proven to have violated the rules of the match would be given strict sanctions. Investigations, said Hudamenambah, are also important to do regarding the referee's leadership in the Aceh match against Central Sulawesi.

"This investigation is not only about being beaten by Central Sulawesi players to the referee, but can also reveal the facts and motives for why the beating occurred," he said.

According to him, the incident is proof that our football ecosystem is not doing well. For Huda, there has been no significant improvement regarding the quality of competition, including the quality of players and match equipment.

"We hope that the federation and football stakeholders will immediately improve. It's useless for our national team to soar if it is built on a porous foundation. Because, of course, our national team building will easily collapse if it gets a little bit of shock," he said.

Previously, the Chairman of the HQ Supervisory and Steering Committee (Panwasrah) of the Aceh National Sports Week (PON)-Sumut 2024 Suwarno had said that the investigation of the referee controversially in the Aceh soccer team match against Central Sulawesi would be carried out by PSSI.

"Especially for the evaluation of these referees, they are at PSSI. They will conduct evaluations from various parties including evaluations from PON activities. Again, those who chose referees were TD, which is a representation of PSSI," said Suwarno at a press conference, Sunday (15/9).

In the quarter-final match that brought together the host Aceh against Central Sulawesi at the Dimurthala Stadium, Banda Aceh on Saturday (14/9) night WIB, referee Eko Agus Sugih Harto was considered to have made a number of controversial decisions with a peak when giving two penalty kicks to the Aceh team a few minutes before the match ended.

The referee's decision was responded to by Central Sulawesi player Muhammad Rizki with the beating until the referee lay down and was rushed by ambulance. The referee who is also on duty in the Indonesian League 3 will now be investigated through an investigation conducted by PSSI as the authorized federation.
