JAKARTA - Maarten Paes immediately returned to the United States to join his club, FC Dallas, after defending the Indonesian national team. Even so, Paes admitted that he could not wait to return in October 2024 to defend the Garuda Squad in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

The Indonesian national team has so far played two Group C matches for the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. The results were quite good because Shin Tae-yong's team was able to score two points from two draws against Saudi Arabia (1-1) and Australia (0-0).

After finishing the second match against Australia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the abroad player decided to return to his club.

One of them is Maarten Paes. Even so, he can't wait to appear again with the Indonesian national team against Bahrain and China.

As is known, the next Garuda Squad will play two away parties for the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round on October 10 and 15, 2024.

"I think now I have to fly far back to the United States. However, we will meet in Bahrain in October 2024," he was quoted as saying on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Even though he had to separate to return to his respective clubs, Paes ensured that he would maintain communication with his colleagues and the coaching team. This is so that the chemistry of the Indonesian national team is maintained even though they do not gather together.

"I'm sure we will continue to interact. So, don't worry," he said.
