PON XXI 2024: East Java Dominates Bicycle Racing Number Downhill Individual

JAKARTA - The East Java (East Java) contingent dominated the Seeding Run round of the bicycle racing event Individual Downhill (DHI) National Sports Week or PON XXI 2024, which took place at the MTB Arena Taman Hutan Raya Bukit Barisan, Karo Regency, North Sumatra, Sunday.

In the male category, two athletes from East Java managed to make achievements as the fastest. Dois Audi Fikriansyah impressed by recording the best time 2 minutes 47.401 seconds, placing him in first position. Meanwhile, his colleague, Pandu Satrio Perkasa, won third place with a time of 2 minutes 49.923 seconds.

The second position is occupied by cyclists from South Sumatra with a time of 2 minutes 48.634 seconds, which can overshadow Dois and provide stiff competition on the top podium.

Not only in the male category, East Java also triumphed in the women's category. Milatul Khaqimah succeeded in becoming the fastest with a record time of 3 minutes 5.219 seconds, ahead of his West Java rivals who recorded a time of 3 minutes 21.605 seconds in second position. In third position, the racer from Aceh occupies the podium with a time of 3 minutes 40.473 seconds.

Milatul Khaqimah, a female cyclist from East Java, expressed her gratitude for this achievement. Alhamdulillah, today I can finish the Seeding Run round. Hopefully in the Final Run tomorrow I will still be able to achieve the results like I did earlier and even try to be more focused. I'm sure tomorrow I can reach the podium," said Milatul Khaqimah, quoted by Antara.

This Seeding Run round raced cyclists to conquer the 1.57-kilometer track, with the challenge of extreme derivatives which became a test of their scarcity in reaching the finish line as quickly as possible. The men's category was followed by 16 participants, while the women's category was followed by 6 participants.

The Final Run in the downhill bicycle racing branch of PON XXI 2024 is scheduled to take place on Monday (9/9), which is a decisive event for athletes to compete for gold medals.
