Come On, Donnarumma Goalkeeper Still Fixes His HANDs When Italian Goalkeeper Conceded

JAKARTA - Conceding a new match of 12 seconds became the unforgettable experience of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. He admitted that he had not had time to fix the gloves when his colleague at Paris Saint-Germain, Bradley Barcola broke into his goal.

When not all Italian players touch the ball, Donnarumma's goal has conceded. Donnarumma himself did not realize when the kick-off whistle sounded. Funny, the captain is still fixing his gloves when the ball is at Barcola's feet and he has to get out of the net to block his club colleague.

"I'm not ready yet. I'm even still fixing my gloves," said Donnarumma, who admitted the team was a bit off guard when the ball was at the feet of the Italians.

"We were careless when the ball was on our feet. In fact, we could wait. But we showed a good reaction when we were in a position behind," he said.

The quick goal did not make Luciano Spalletti's troops waver. They managed to get up and soon defender Federico Dimarco equalized the score. Furthermore, Italy added two goals in the second half through Davide Frattesi and Giacomo Raspadori.

Italy finally won 3-1 in the inaugural League A Group 2 match. Italy was ranked first with three points.

The same as Belgium, who won 3-1 over Israel. But Italy was placed in the top position because they won in away matches.

"Conceding in the early minutes of the game was tough. But we tried to stay calm and focused on playing by implementing what was in the practice," said Donnarumma.

"We also played well and this is what makes us win the game," he said further.

Even though he failed to do a clean sheet, Donnarumma was satisfied with Italy's achievements. He also got valuable experience because his goal conceded through a quick goal.

After defeating France, Gli Azzurri returned to play away matches. This time, Italy faced the host Israel on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in the morning WIB.

The match was held in neutral places at the Bozsik Arena Stadium, Budapest, Hungary. Because of the international political issue of Israel-Palestinian which prevented Israel from hosting its opponents.
