JAKARTA Danny Kosasih, General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi), will not come back again. He has faced a moment that cannot be avoided by anyone who has been born.

However, that incident was a sorrow for the Indonesian basketball world. Susuk, as he is familiarly called, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, WIB night at around 21.20 WIB. He breathed his last at the age of 69 due to heart failure at Medistra Hospital, Jakarta.

Danny Kosasih's death was confirmed by a number of Perbasi staff and close relatives. The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) through its Instagram account officially shared the sad news.

"Sad news comes from the basketball world. Chairman of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) Danny Kosasih has died on Thursday, September 5, 2024," wrote the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Susuk died when he was about to resign. The figure, who served as Head of Perbasi for two terms, refused to run for re-election in the National Conference (Munas) in October 2024 with the main agenda of selecting the new Ketum.

Danny Kosasih was born on February 20, 1955. He served as Ketum Perbasi in two terms, respectively in 2015-2019 and 2019-2023.

One of the achievements during Danny Kosasih's leadership brought the Indonesian Men's Basketball National Team to win a gold medal at the SEA Games for the first time in history.

Danny Kosasih was born with the name Kho Poo Thai. At first he got to know basketball from his father and slowly began to grow up as a professional basketball player.

Susuk started his career in basketball by participating in training at the Kuo You Hui Semarang basketball association, now known as the Kumala Jaya Basketball Association.

It was this club that had great services in Danny's actions in basketball. In 1973, Danny was also chosen to be one of the players to represent Central Java in the National Student Basketball Competition in Jakarta.

At the event, his talent began to appear after he was selected as the best player. However, his career as a player did not exceed his position as a coach.

When crossing as a coach, Danny left his legacy in professional basketball when he became Satya Wacana Salatiga's first coach while navigating the professional league.

His position at the club lasted for two seasons of competition, respectively in 2010-20011 and 2011-20212. He then left Satya Wacana after receiving a mandate from PP Perbasi to become coach of the U-18 Indonesian national team in 2012.

Three years later, he was also chosen to be the number one person in the national basketball parent. In addition to the several achievements above, Danny Koasih also managed to lead Indonesia to host the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup and 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
