Syuci Indriani Fulfills Target To Enter The 2024 Paralympic Final

Syuci Indriani meets the target of entering the 2024 Paris Paralympic final (doc. NPC Indonesia).

JAKARTA The Indonesian swimming athlete, Syuci Indriani, managed to meet the target of entering the final round of the 100 meters butterfly classification S14 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Syuci is one of three Indonesian swimming athletes who have penetrated the 2024 Paris Paralympics. The 2022 Asian Para Games bronze medalist went to Paris with a target of entering the final.

Syuci successfully achieved this target after being ranked fourth in Heat 1 in the qualifying round at the Paris la Defense Arena, Paris, Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Syuci recorded a time of 1 minute 09.71 seconds. Although it has not exceeded the best personal time record (1 minute 09.66 seconds), Syuci Indriani became the eighth fastest overall in the qualifying round.

"I am very grateful to be able to finish the 100 meters butterfly match by entering the final. I am grateful because this is in line with the target. Thank you to all who have prayed, friends, family, and the people of Indonesia," said Syuci.

Syuci Indriani felt covered by Dewi Fortuna when the participants at Heat 2 could not record a better time. Syuci also shed tears when she found out she was able to pass the final round even though she was not on the flagship list.

"Before this match, I was still ranked 14th (world). I didn't expect to jump to eighth place either. So, I am grateful," said Syuci.

Syuci Indriani does have a special motivation for the 2024 Paralympics. He wanted to give achievements after failing to reach the final in the three numbers he participated in at the 2020 Paralympics.

"This motivation comes from friends at NPC Indonesia, the family is also of course, my father who is struggling with his illness in Riau. This is a motivation, proving that Suci can enter the final," he said.

Unfortunately, in the final which took place at 18.42 Paris or 23.42 WIB, Syuci Indriani had to settle for being in the most distended position with a time of 1 minute 10.41 seconds.

Syuci Indrini is 7.41 seconds behind British representative Poppy Maskill, who won a gold medal with a time of 1 minute 03.00 seconds. This time record is the latest world record for the 100-meter S14 butterfly.

The Indonesian Swimming Coach, Agni Heratta, appreciated Syuci Indriani's success in meeting the target at the 2024 Paralympics.

"Even though the final time was a little delayed, we are still grateful that we can fulfill the target from the Ministry of Youth and Sports," said Agni.

Agni also revealed the difference in match time which made it difficult for Syuci Indriani to make the time better. The three sessions in Paris are not enough to adapt to the time difference.

"The difference in time still has an effect because when it was Holy to appear in the final, approximately in Indonesia it was 12 pm."

"However, the record time at the Paralympics is already better than when trying out to France in June 2024. Both are in the final, but the timing is better now," said Agni Hearta.

Indonesian Swimming still has two representatives at the 2024 Paralympics. Maulana Rifky Yavianda will compete in the 100-meter backstroke S12 and 100-meter S12 freestyle, and Jendi Pangabean which will compete in the 100-meter backstroke S9.
