Korea Open 2024: Leo/Bagas Beat China Taipei Doubles

Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana passed the first round of the Korea Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana passed the first round of the Korea Open 2024 by beating representatives of China Taipei, Ming Che Lu/Tang Kai Wei.

Leo/Bagas spent 31 minutes locking up the straight two games 21-13 and 21-16 at Mokpo Indoor Stadium, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

This is Leo/Bagas' fourth win. The previous three wins were won at the Japan Open 2024 last week when they were able to reach the semifinals.

"We will certainly give the best performance. Whatever the conditions here, it seems a bit difficult to eat. Even so, we are still grateful and will focus on facing the match," Leo said after the match.

This duel went tight only at the beginning of the first and second games. The rest, the Indonesian pair appeared so impressive and put more pressure on the opponent.

At the beginning of the first game, Leo/Bagas were left behind. They then slowly got up and chased and equalized the score three times 3-3, 4-4, and 6-6.

Leo/Bagas then scored seven consecutive points to stay away from the opponent. It was recorded that the closest difference in numbers between the two pairs after the position was four points.

In the second game, Leo/Bagas missed the first point. They then took the lead twice and were equalized by the opponent. However, after 5-5, their points could not be blocked.

"It needs to be added in terms of communication. As a new partner, we really have to communicate frequently. This is so that our game will get better," said Bagas.

Leo/Bagas are one of two Indonesian men's doubles players who played in this tournament. One other double is Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin.

In total, Indonesia has six representatives at the Korea Open 2024. The other four representatives are Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Dejan Ferdinandyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
