The Debate Of The 2024 Olympic Gender Is Still Ongoing, Mrs. Imane Khelif Condemns Criticism

JAKARTA - It's been more than a week since the 2024 Paris Olympics ended. Imane Khelif, a boxer from Algeria, won a gold medal in the women's 66 kg class. Likewise with Lin Yu Ting (China Taipei) who got gold in the women's 57 kg class.

However, the debate over Khelif and Yu Ting's gender, which has been widely discussed throughout the 2024 Olympics, has not been completed until now.

Imane Khelif's mother, Nasria, criticized critics who still did not believe that her child was a girl.

"My daughter is a girl. She grew up as a girl. Imane is a girl who has loved sports since she was six years old."

"I will always be there for him. He has respected the national flag (Aljazair). He is our role model," Nasria told The Daily Mail.

The impact of the gender polemic had made Khelif depressed. He even went to a psychiatrist to improve his mentality.

You see, some world leaders have openly doubted Khelif's gender through social media. Call it Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

Luckily, a lot of support poured in on him. This allows Khhelif to focus on his performances in the ring at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Currently, he just wants to care about people who know and support him. The 25-year-old boxer is a gender polemic who is currently still appearing, although not as happy as before.

He did this so that his mentality would not fall again and could continue his boxing career well.

"What can I say about this stage? It's not enough. It's a very difficult stage. I can't wait to get through it. The scenario is very scary."

Previously, it was known that Imane Khelf was the subject of conversation when the International Boxing Association (IBA) criticized the performances of Khelif and Lin Yu Ting (China Taipei) at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

They said the two boxers could not fight in the women's number because they failed a gender eligibility test.

Khelif and Yu Ting were also disqualified from the 2023 Women's Boxing World Championships for failing the test before appearing in Paris.

IBA's statement immediately made the boxing world busy. The claim that the two boxers were born as men spread.

In fact, not a few also call Khelif and Yu Ting transgender.

The confusion was widening. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) defended the two boxers and still allowed to compete in the 2024 Olympics.

The IOC confirmed that the gender eligibility test conducted by IBA on Khelif and Yu Ting did not have a clear basis and could be independently verified.

Meanwhile, after the 2024 Olympics were completed, it turned out that the gender debate between the two boxers was still ongoing.

IBA revealed that they would not end the polemic.

"We never intended to do all this. We have received letters from China Taipei and Algeria informing us that we cannot disclose any information about boxers."

Apart from that, the IBA has been crossed out by the IOC as an amateur boxing regulatory body since 2019 regarding failures in governance and finance.
