Appearing Good For Borneo FC, Stefano Lilipaly Is Always Ready To Respond To The Call Of The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - Borneo FC striker Stefano Lilipaly appeared slick when he defended the team in the inaugural match of Liga 1 2024/2025. Along with his sharp performance, Lilipaly admitted that he was open and ready if he was again called to strengthen the Indonesian national team.

Stefano Lilipaly appeared when Borneo FC visited Semen Padang's headquarters at the PTIK Stadium, Jakarta, on Monday, August 12, 2024, WIB night. In that match, Lilipaly even opened the scoring of Pesut Etam when the game had only been running for four minutes.

Not only contributed goals in Borneo FC's 3-1 victory over Semen Padang, Lilipaly also made assists for the Berguinho goal. His slick appearance clearly opened the opportunity for Lilipaly to be able to again strengthen the Indonesian national team which will appear in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in September 2024.

Lilipaly's slick appearance in the match was not in vain because on that occasion it turned out that there was an assistant coach of the Indonesian national team who participated in watching the match.

After the match, when asked about his impression of appearing in front of the assistant coach of the Indonesian national team, Lilipaly turned out to have a surprising answer.

The 34-year-old player did not realize that there was assistant coach Shin Tae-yong who was present on the field and watching the match between Semen Padang vs Borneo FC.

Nevertheless, Lilipaly admitted that he was always open and ready if he was really needed by the Garuda Squad.

"I didn't know the assistant coach of the Indonesian national team was watching. I only focused (playing) for Borneo FC," Stefano Lilipaly was quoted as saying on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

"I focus on Borneo FC, but for the Indonesian national team I am always ready. Called the Indonesian national team or not, I am proud," said Lilipaly.

Regarding the Lilipaly opportunity that is open to defending the Indonesian national team, that moment is not new to the player.

The reason is, Lilipaly was indeed trusted to be a regular player in the Garuda Squad ranks. Throughout his career, Lilipaly has defended the Indonesian national team 35 times.

The moment of Lilipaly's most memorable appearance was when he defended the U-23 Indonesian national team at the 2018 Asian Games. At that time, Lilipaly managed to score four goals from three matches.
