Kick-off Liga 1 2024/2025: Persib Challenged By PSBS Biak

Persib will host PSBS Biak in the opening match of Liga 1 2024/2025 (doc. Persib).

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung and PSBS Biak will meet in the opening match of Liga 1 Indonesia 2024/2025.

The duel between the two teams will be presented at Persib headquarters, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, West Java, on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Kick-off of the match will begin at 19.00 WIB. This is the first meeting between the two teams in the history of the Indonesian league.

The hosts were present in this match carrying the status of the defending champion of Indonesia's highest level league. Meanwhile, Biak has the title of the promotion team after winning Liga 2 2023/2024.

Maung Bandung made thorough preparations for the new season with five new players. They are Gustavo Franca, Mateo Kocijan, Adam Alis, Dimas Drajad, and Mailson Lima.

The squad made by Bojan Hodak also complied with quota rules for eight foreign players. The other five foreign gatherings are Ciro Alves, David da Silva, Nick Kuipers, Kevin Ray Mendoza, and Tyronne del Pino.

As is known, this season PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) have allowed clubs to contract a maximum of eight foreign players, which is the highest number in the history of the Indonesian league.

However, this rule is not a must and does not necessarily come from ASEAN, Asia, or Europe. Persib Bandung is also one of eight teams that have eight foreign players.

Even though they were told to bring in eight foreign players, each club could only play six players in the match. The other two had to sit on the bench.

This means that if you want to include foreign players, then substitutions are also carried out by fellow import players, provided that there are six foreign troops on the field.

PSBS Biak only has seven foreign players. The brands are Abel Arganaraz, Gabriel Esparza, Julian Velazquez, Alexandro, Jonata Machado, Takuya Matsunaga, and Williams Lugo.

PSBS Biak comes with preparation as well. One of them brought coach Juan Esnaider, who will undergo his first match in Liga 1 against Persib.

As the first experience, the coach immediately faced a militant team supporters. This atmosphere will certainly be different from what he encountered at previous clubs.
