Man City Striker Transfer To Atletico Madrid Blocked Salary

JAKARTA - Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has not yet reached an agreement regarding his salary with Atletico Madrid. His move to Atletico was delayed.

Atletico actually reached an agreement with Man City about Alvarez's transfer. Even Man City successfully sold its players at a very high price, 81.5 million pounds or 90 million euros.

Atletico bought it for 70 million euros plus bonuses based on player performance of 20 million euros. Meanwhile, Man City only spent 14 million when they brought Alvarez from River Plate in 2022. This was the highest sales the Cityzens made.

But at Atletico, Aavarez became the second most expensive player after Joao Felix. Atletico spent up to 127 million euros when they were bought from Benfica in 2019. However, Felix did not shine at Los Rojiblancos and was more often loaned out to other clubs.

Apart from Alvarez, Atletico brought in a duo of Chelsea Conor Gallagher and Samu Omorodion. Only Alvarez and Gallagher had already arrived in Madrid for medical tests.

Alvarez himself wants to leave Man City so he can play regularly. The reason is that he only becomes Erling Haaland's coating in Man City.

However, Alvarez also brought Man City to win the English Premier League twice, the FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup to the FIFA Club World Cup or Club World Cup.

Although Man City and Atletico have reached an agreement regarding Alvarez's transfer, while the player is still constrained by salary.

In addition, as revealed by The Sun, the duration of the contract was rejected by the Argentine national team striker even though it was reported that he had finally received a five-year contract.

However, Alvarez still does not personally agree with Atletico. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, both parties are still discussing the player's basic salary.

"Alvarez still doesn't personally agree with Atletico Madrid. The disagreement is about salary and contract duration," Jacobs said in upload X (formerly Twitter).

"Atleti is trying to solve this problem. Before the agreement is reached, the transfer of Conor Gallagher and Samu Omorodion cannot be carried out," he said.

According to information, Alvarez is asking for an additional 2-3 million euros for his salary. This is related to Paris Saint-Germain's offer that dares to pay 10 million euros per year for Alvarez.
