Gregoria Proud to be the First Athlete to Wear Special Podium Uniform Designed by Prabowo's Son

JAKARTA - The winner of the women's singles badminton bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, admitted that she was proud to wear a special uniform designed for athletes on the podium.

This special uniform was designed by a famous Indonesian designer, Didit Hediprasetyo, who is the son of the elected President, Prabowo Subianto.

This podium uniform has a different design from the one worn by athletes during the farewell at the Merdeka Palace or the one worn every day during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Of course I'm very happy to be the first athlete to wear this on the podium. It's really nice, I like the red and white accents on the left arm," said Gregoria.

This special podium uniform is part of the official uniform of the Indonesian Contingent which consists of the dominant colors red and white, with the Garuda Pancasila symbol in a circular shield with a black background placed on the left side of the chest.

This special uniform also still takes inspiration from the national song Berkibarlah Benderaku created by Mrs. Sud which reflects nationalism and love for the identity of the Indonesian state and the Red and White flag.

Gregoria Mariska became the first athlete from the Indonesian Contingent to win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Indonesia still has eight athletes left who are still fighting to win medals to maintain the Red and White on the world's highest sporting stage.

"Thank you to Mr. Didit who designed this uniform. The color is nice and I am very proud to wear this on the podium."

"I, who usually don't like to wear bright colored clothes because usually my clothes are all black, am very happy to wear this," said Gregoria.
