British MotoGP FP1 Results 2024: Jorge Martin Leads, Marc Marquez Experiences Incident

JAKARTA - The 2024 English MotoGP free practice (FP1) session belongs to the Pramac Ducati driver, Jorge Martin, who managed to record himself as the fastest. For Marc Marquez, he got worse again because he was involved in an incident on the track.

In the FP1 session at the Silverstone Circuit, Friday, August 2, 2024, afternoon WIB, Aprilia riders were seen stepping on the gas. In the front position is Maverick Vinales who outperforms Aleix Espargaro.

About 20 minutes remaining, of the total 45 minutes duration, Aleix Espargaro appears to be at the forefront. Behind him are Ducati's two riders, Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini.

Minutes later, Jorge Martin, who showed off his pace with a time of 1 minute 59.627 seconds. The Pramac Ducati rider outperformed Espargaro with a difference of 0.092 seconds.

After that, it was Marc Marquez's turn from the Gresini Ducati manufacturer who did not want to lose by riding. The time difference temporarily puts him in fifth position with a distance of 0.306 seconds from Jorge Martin.

However, when FP1 had two minutes remaining, Marquez fell at Turn 15, even after that he immediately got up and returned to continue the remaining time.

Prior to that, there was also PedroACKa from the KTM manufacturer who had an incident at Turn 6. In the remaining time, Jorge Martin gave the advantage. He sharpened the time with 1 minute 59.383 seconds and became the fastest in the 2024 British MotoGP FP1 session.

Vinales is in second place. Meanwhile Aleix Espargaro is in third place. After FP1, there is still a second free practice session which will be held on Friday at 21.00 WIB.

As a reminder, since Silverstone last year, there has been a change in format in the MotoGP training session. One of them is that the results of FP1 are no longer counted to determine entry to Q1/Q2 (qualification) MotoGP.

The only training session whose time will be recorded to be counted in the Q1/Q2 qualifying session is now called practice. The practice session was held after FP1 and before FP2 every race week.
