Persib Forget The Defeat Of Borneo FC, Focus On Winning Tickets For The 2024 President's Cup Semifinals

Bojan Hodak is optimistic that Persib will go to the semifinals of the 2024 Presidential Cup (doc. President's Cup).

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung had to lose to Borneo FC in the second match of Group A of the 2024 Presidential Cup, Monday, July 22, 2024, at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency.

Berguinho's goal in injury time in the second half dashed Maung Bandung's hopes of getting points.

However, Persib coach, Bojan Hodak, did not want to bother. He took the positive side of the defeat.

Of course, the gap that appeared in this pre-season tournament could be an evaluation material to look at Liga 1 2024/2025.

"I think it's a good game and seeing it's the start of the pre-season game. It's a good game, but a bad result for us."

"I think we have more chances than Borneo FC, but I think a draw is a fairer result."

"I'm also happy with our game in the early 60 minutes. We started the game by being able to create chances, but still made some mistakes. We still have to fix it before the league starts," said Hodak.

Despite losing, Persib's opportunity to reach the semifinals of the 2024 Presidential Cup is still wide open. Marc Klok and colleagues need to win the final match of Group A against Persis Solo on Thursday, July 25, 2024. If they lose again, Maung Bandung can be eliminated.

Persib has also forgotten the defeat of Borneo FC and is focused on looking at the match against Persis for the semifinal ticket.

One of Persib's new players, Dimas Drajad, expressed optimism that his team would advance to the next phase.

"We have to keep going because there is another match. Hopefully in the next match we can give the victory. We will follow all instructions from the coach," said Dimas.

Bojan Hodak also expressed similar beliefs. Moreover, he saw that his new players, including Dimas, had appeared according to his wishes even though they had not been maximal due to physical conditions.

The coach has given his new players the opportunity in the first two matches. Apart from Dimas, who played 45 minutes in the match against Borneo, there were also Gustavo Franca, Mateo Kocijan, and Tyronne del Pino.

"I'm quite happy with the players who come like Dimas, Gustavo, and Mateo, they play a good game. When they are fully fit, Tyronne too, of course we will get better," said Hodak.
