JAKARTA - David de Gea is likely to return to play football in the coming weeks after more than a year of absence. The 33-year-old is still without a club, following his departure from Manchester United in July 2023, as he has not agreed to a new challenge. After moving from Old Trafford, the veteran goalkeeper accepted offers from Turkey and La Liga, but he has never had a new club. De Gea also turned down an offer to move to Saudi Arabia and the United States because he wanted to stay in Europe, although there was no definite offer.

In early 2024, De Gea reportedly rejected the news that he would return to play in the Premier League to defend Nottingham Forest. However, at that time its decision to return to play under the bar appeared to be realized soon.
