Indra Sjafri Has Criteria In Determining The U-19 Indonesia Squad For The 2024 AFF U-19 Cup

JAKARTA - Indonesia U-19 is ready to compete in the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup which will be held in Surabaya on 17-29 July 2024.

Indra Sjafri as the head coach has narrowed 23 players from 28 names who were brought to the last training camp (TC) in Surabaya.

The 61-year-old coach revealed the criteria for reducing the number of players to comply with the rules of the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup.

He doesn't just choose talented players, but there are other aspects that become an assessment.

"There are 28 players that we brought to Surabaya. There is an evaluation of each individual. Every election is objective," said Indra on the PSSI remission page on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

"This selection is not only about the selection of talent on the field, but also about the attitude of players off the pitch."

"In addition, there are also psychological tests. We talk not about individuals, but in terms of games, collectives, which we choose objectively," he said again.

Previously, Indra Sjafri called 44 players for TC and selection. Gradually, he reduced the number of players by a promotion-relegation system.

Finally, that number was filtered to 28 names that were brought to the final training camp.

Indonesia U-19 will start its journey in Group A of the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup or AFF Championship U-19 on July 17, 2024, by facing the Philippines at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.

Garuda Muda was then scheduled to meet Cambodia (20 July 2024) and Timor Leste (23 July 2024).
