JAKARTA A fierce battle between England and Spain will take place in the Euro 2024 final which will be held at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Ahead of this match, England coach Gareth Southgate shared his views on this important match and gave awards to his players.

Southgate, which has always shown an unconditional and dignified attitude, revealed that victory on Sunday 14 July will bring happiness to the entire British nation. "We will bring happiness to our nation. For the groups of players and staff, as well as the players we have been with for the past six or seven years, I will be very proud of them all," he said.

The England manager also commented on the talented Spanish wingers, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal. "They are both very good, young talents who work for the team. They may make their team's style more direct than the previous Spanish team," Southgate said.

Southgate also praised the personal journey of his player, total Watkins, who made it into the England squad. "The journey is extraordinary, to get into the squad. But then, what he has done in the last few weeks, the level of training, the commitment to training never wavers, and he is ready when we need him," Southgate added.

The influence of England's substitutes, or what they call 'completioners', is also enormous in this tournament. "They have to make sacrifices for the team, but they do it very well. They influence the game when we ask for it, and they are amazing at the training camp too," Southgate explained.

England will face Spain, known for its dynamic and confident young players. "Spain has had some very difficult matches; they may be the best team in competitions so far. Their wingers are very dynamic, young, full of confidence, and immediate. Rodri is an amazing player. But we have goals from everywhere and world-class talent. This will be a very interesting game and I can't wait to be a part of it."

Watkins also admitted that England did not play as well as possible in the group stage, but they got stronger as the tournament went on. "The main thing is that we didn't lose the game and as time went on we played better. We controlled the game. If we were one goal behind, we didn't collapse. We showed together that everyone is there to work hard as a team. We are getting stronger. Hopefully we can finish the job," said Watkins.

After scoring a winning goal against the Netherlands, Watkins felt great happiness. "It feels great. I try to absorb everything because moments like that rarely happen. I believe in hard work and dedication you can achieve anything and it happens to me," he said.

Watkins also appreciated the big role of the players who haven't played yet. "Children who haven't played a big role and become real professionals. Everyone is together and I think it brings this group closer. Now I'm sure the players realize there are a lot of hype and the country is very excited. Our focus is on that final," he added.

Watkins called Rodri a very crucial Spanish major player in building attacks. "Everyone knows his talent; he is a world-class player and I feel he is very crucial for the way they build attacks. So, if we can stop the ball from getting into him, it makes our lives much easier," concluded Watkins.
