Menpora Asks KONI To Encourage Early Childhood Athletes Development

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, asked the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) to pay attention to the development of early childhood athletes.

He conveyed this to the Menpora when opening the KONI national working meeting (Rakernas) at the Pullman Podomoro City Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

"At this National Working Meeting, we hope that KONI will encourage the national federation of sports to focus on early childhood development. Later we can collaborate using the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center, which this year is ready for use," he said.

On that occasion, the Minister of Youth and Sports also mentioned the organizers of the 2024 Aceh-North PON XXI. He ensured that this year's edition of PON would run according to schedule.

He said that two weeks ago he and the General Chair of KONI, Marciano Norman, attended a Limited Meeting and gave guarantees to President Joko Widodo regarding this matter.

"At this Rakernas, we hope that the implementation of the 2024 Aceh XXI PON will be a joint focus between the Government, KONI, and all sports," he said.

PON XXI Aceh-Sumut 2024 is the first PON in two provinces since PON I/1948 in Surakarta City. In addition, the PON is also the first PON with the highest number of provinces being participants.

A total of 38 provinces will participate there. Including the New Autonomous Region (DOB) plus the presence of the State Capital (IKN).
