JAKARTA - Manchester United agreed to an agreement with Newcastle United regarding the recruitment of Dan Ashworth as Director of Sports.

The Red Devils have been chasing the Magpies executive for months. Now they finally got it.

According to The Athletic, the deal has now been approved, more than four months after Ashworth received leave from Newcastle.

The 53-year-old man is said to be ready to take up his position at Old Trafford.

His arrival ended a long story when Sir Jim Ratcliffe continued to overhaul the team at Manchester United.

The Athletic further reported that in April 2024 Ashworth plans to bring Newcastle to arbitration to enforce a deal with United.

The Red Devils are also allegedly willing to pay their legal fees in order to lure him to Old Trafford.

However, with the agreement now being approved by both parties, this is no longer necessary.

It is not yet known how much compensation Manchester United has paid for Ashworth's services. However, previously the Magpies were claimed to be willing to pay around 20 million pounds.

Ashworth is considered high in his role and has held the position of Director of Sports at a number of top clubs.

His track record is not kidding. He is the Director of Development of the England National Team from 2013 to 2018.

He then switched to football club in 2019 by joining Brighton as Technical Director and bringing about a period of success.

Ashworth left Brighton and joined Newcastle in 2022. He spearheaded The Magpies' revolution as Director of Sports for less than two years.

And Ashworth will reportedly have overall responsibility for football's performance, recruitment, and operations at Manchester United.

The new Technical Director of The Red Devils, Jason waste, who joined the 20-time Premier League champions in April 2024, will be under Ashworth.

The duet isn't the only new face in a reshuffle by Manchester United's new minority shareholder, Sir Jim Radcliffe.

Former chief executive of Manchester City, Omar Berrada, is expected to arrive at Old Trafford at the end of July 2024.

In addition, Manchester United also want to bring in some new coaching staff after reshuffling their executive ranks.

So far, the fate of Manager Erik ten Hag is still unclear. The latest speculation is still about the departure of the Dutch coach.

However, negotiations continue over a new deal for the 54-year-old coach whose current contract expires at the end of next season.

The new coaching staff can also come to help Ten Hag, who has guided United to two trophies in several seasons since his arrival.

Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake is rumored to be joining the club's coaching staff. United's former star, Ruud van Nistelrooy, will also return to Old Trafford as part of the dressing room staff.
