Perbasi Optimistic The U-18 Indonesian National Team Can Reach The 2024 FIBA Asia Cup

JAKARTA The Indonesian U-18 Men's national team is considered to have a big chance to qualify from the U-18 SEABA to the 2024 FIBA Asia Cup U-18 in September 2024.

The U-18 SEABA will be held in Malaysia on 19-21 July 2024. Indonesia is currently undergoing a training camp (TC) to welcome the events participated by the four countries.

The U-18 Indonesian national team manager, Murni Setionegoro, said that the selection of players was entirely the right of the coaching team. However, for sure, the quality of Indonesia to be able to speak is very open.

"I have more discussions for general matters so that there can qualify. We believe and are optimistic that Indonesia can qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup U-18," said Murni.

The U-18 Indonesian national team training camp has started since June 24, 2024. The coaching team will again remove 19 players at this time.

Andrie coach Ekayana Satya Sentosa said the focus of training is currently still on recovery after his players appeared at the ASEAN School Games (ASG) and brought home a gold medal.

"Good preparation. We have been practicing for several days. Our annual training day will be carried out by the first deletion of 19 players. Of course, so far it has been going well," he said.

At first, there were 24 names of players who were included in the selection list. The names are the result of the selection at the GBK Arena, Jakarta, from April 30 to May 2, 2024.

The coaching team will still cut to 12 only. This will be the final squad that will be brought to Malaysia later.

If it can go smoothly in SEABA, the U-18 Indonesian national team will get a ticket to the 2024 FIBA Asia Cup. The event is scheduled to take place on September 2-9, 2024 in Amman, Jordan.
