JAKARTA Indonesian women's judo athlete, Maryam March Maharani, has officially received a ticket to appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC) in an official statement on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, said that Maryam was confirmed to have passed based on an official letter from the International Judo Federation (IJF).

"Dailyam March Maharani managed to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics through the Asian continental quota qualification in the Women's -52kg number," wrote NOC.

Maryam became the first judo athlete in the current Indonesian contingent. He is the 26th Indonesian athlete to depart for the world's largest multi-event.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In total there are more than 10 thousand athletes from 206 delegates to contestants.

Indonesia went there with a target of being able to bring home more than two gold medals for the first time in the history of participating in the Olympics.

Indonesia's best achievement during its participation in the Olympics was the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

At that time, two gold medals were brought home by the women's singles badminton player Susi Susanti and Alan Budikusuma's men's singles. Six gold medals after that, also came from badminton.

Therefore, Indonesia wants this year to be able to get a gold medal from another sport for the first time. Rock climbing and weightlifting are among the favorites to achieve this achievement.
