Manchester United Injured Seriously In 2024 Copa America

JAKARTA - Edson Alvarez came out crying in the 30th minute of the match in Mexico vs Jamaica, Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Alvarez reportedly suffered a severe hamstring injury to Mexico's opening match in Group B of the 2024 Copa America.

The 26-year-old had received treatment from the medical team on the field. However, Alvarez finally had to be led by the medical team off the pitch covering his face and holding his upper leg because he was unable to continue the match.

Alvarez's injury was a blow for El Tri. They lost an important captain and player in the defense sector.

"We'll wait a few days to do some tests on him and find out well what happened."

"He is very important. He is a leader. He understands the game well. He is important on the pitch and also in the dressing room."

"You listen to him speak. He is good at words. When he talks, you listen. This is a tough blow to all of us," said Mexican manager Jaime Lozano.

Mexico will still have two more matches in Group B of the 2024 Copa America. Venezuela awaits on Thursday, June 27, 2024, and Ecuador on Monday, July 1, 2024.

The two parties are very important because they determine El Tri's passing to the knockout phase of the 2024 Copa America.

Meanwhile, Edson Alvarez's name is on the priority list in Manchester United's transfer. The Red Devils are looking for a commensurate replacement for Casemiro.

Alvarez's move to Old Trafford is getting closer considering that Erik ten Hag has managed the midfielder to last three years while still in Ajax Amsterdam.

Alvarez is currently a West Ham player. He moved from Ajax last summer and signed a five-year contract until 2028 with the Hammers.

The 26-year-old made 42 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals.
