Poland Is The First Team To Leave The 2024 European Cup

JAKARTA - After the Dutch and French matches ended in a draw, Poland was confirmed to be eliminated from the 2024 European Cup (Euro).

Michal Probierz's side have lost two defeats in Group D, 1-2 by the Netherlands, with the latest 1-3 against Austria on Friday night, June 21. Quoting Antara, Poland could actually survive in this tournament if the Netherlands managed to beat France.

This almost happened when Xavi Simons' goal for the Netherlands in the second half was not disallowed by the referee because Denzel Dumfries was judged to be in an offside position as the ball slid into the French goal.

The Dutch vs France match ended in a goalless draw so Poland's steps at Euro 2024 had to be stopped in the group stage.

Poland coach Micha Total Probierz after the match said his team had lost too much of the ball that caused the defeat.

"It looks like we can control this game, but we often lose the ball which in the end makes us lose," he said.

Although it has been confirmed that they have been eliminated, Poland still has to play against France in the closing match of Group D on Tuesday (25/6).

Actually, Hungary, which has yet to win in Group A, also has the potential to be eliminated. But they could reach third because Hungary's last opponent was Scotland who had just picked up a point.

In the European Cup, apart from being in positions one and two in groups, there will be four teams that can follow with the title of the best third position of the whole group.

The conditions that must be achieved include having points higher than the other third-placed teams, winning goal difference and the amount of goal productivity.
