Avoid Clashes In The Schedule Of Liga 1 And The Indonesian National Team, PSSI And LIB Hold Special Meetings

The Indonesian national team will undergo a solid future agenda (VOI/Ferry Tri Adi).

JAKARTA - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) and PSSI held a special meeting to discuss the schedule of the Indonesian national team and the League 1 competition in the coming season.

The meeting was shared by Erick Thohir on his personal Instagram account on Thursday, June 13, 2024. In the upload, he said that this meeting was held to create a combined projection between the agenda of the Indonesian national team and local competition for the next three years.

"After the Indonesian national team made sure to qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, I together with the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) and the Indonesian League manager held a meeting to ensure that the schedule for the Indonesian national team and the league could run together until 2027," Erick wrote on Instagram.

The chairman of PSSI also highlighted the important agenda of the Indonesian national team after qualifying for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. The Garuda squad will later undergo a total of 10 matches. Six of them will take place this year and the remaining four will be held next year.

"The Indonesian national team will face 10 matches in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. The matches will be played on 5 & 10 September 2024, 10 & 15 October 2024, 14 & 19 November 2024, 20 & 25 March 2025, and 5 & 10 June 2025," he said.

"Drawing for the determination of the third round of Group Qualification for the 2026 World Cup will be held on June 27, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia," said Erick Thohir.

Previously, it was known that the Indonesian national team made sure that one place to the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification as runners-up in Group F in the second round. Thom Haye and his friends packed 10 points from six matches.

After qualifying for the third round, Shin Tae-yong's team will face tougher challenges. It is not impossible that they will also meet Asian giants, such as South Korea, Iran, and Japan.
