World Boxing Results: Zhang Hits Wilder's KO, Bivol Holds Title

JAKARTA The results of the 5VS5 world boxing event which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, June 1 or Sunday morning, June 2, WIB, gave several surprises.

The first surprise was the knockout defeat of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder to Chinese boxer Zhang Zhilei. Wilder gave up on round 5 after a right-handed Zhang hit his jaw. Zhang now has a record 27-2-1 (22 KOs), while Wilder 43-4-1 (42 KOs).

The next surprise was the defeat of the unbeaten boxer TKO, Filip Hrgovic. The Croatian boxer lost to TKO round 8 to Daniel Dubois, in a heavyweight match scheduled for 12 rounds.

Injuries in Hrgovic's eyes made the match stop, and TKO's victory was given to Dubois, a boxer from England. Dubois' current record 21-1 (20 KO), while Hrgovic lost the first to a record of 17-1 (14 KO).

Meanwhile in another party, the light heavyweight WBA champion from Russia, Dimitry Bivol stopped the fight against Libyan boxer Malik Zinad. Bivol won TKO round 6 of the scheduled 12. Bivol are unbeaten from 23 matches, with 12 knockout wins. As for Zinad, this is the first defeat to 23 matches, of which 16 he won by knockout.

The 5VS5 boxing show is a series of tournament-formed professional boxing matches, held by two British promoters, Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry. Both of them received funding support from the Saudi Arabian government.
