Singapore Open 2024: Fajar/Rian Indonesian Single Representative In Final

JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto are the only Indonesian representatives who are in the final round of the Singapore Open 2024.

Fajar/Rian qualified for the final round of the Super 750 BWF after winning the rubber games 21-11, 16-21, and 21-12 against the Danish pair, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, Saturday, June 1 night WIB.

"I'm happy to be back in the final, all the players definitely want the best results in every tournament. But it's not easy, there are a lot of turmoil from that process," said Fajar.

Fajar/Rian's escape to the final allows Indonesia to hope to get a title for three consecutive years in the tournament.

In the previous two editions, Indonesia had a total of four titles there. In the 2022 edition, three titles were secured by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, and Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

Meanwhile, in last year's edition, the only title was brought home by the reigning men's singles champion Anthony Ginting, who this year actually fell in the second half.

In the final round tomorrow, Fajar/Rian, who will be the seventh seed in this tournament, will meet Chinese representatives, He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu. The pair qualified for the final after beating Japan's sixth seed, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.

Indonesia actually placed two representatives in the semifinals. However, another representative, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, failed to get through the round.
