PSSI Confirms Send Indonesia U-20 To Maurice Revello Tournament 2024 In France

Indra Sjafri will lead Indonesia U-20 at Maurice Revello Tournament 2024 (doc. PSSI).

PSSI confirmed the delivery of Indonesia U-20 to the Maurice Revello 2024 Tournament or the 50th edition of Tournoi Maurice Revello in France on June 3-16, 2024.

This was revealed by Arya Sinulingga, a member of the PSSI Executive Committee.

"It's true, we took part in the tournament. The team we will send is Indonesia U-20, which is held by coach Indra Sjafri," said Arya in his statement.

Earlier on May 10, 2024, Maurice Revello's official 2024 account on X uploaded the welcoming of Indonesia U-20 as the last team to participate.

In the description of the upload, Indonesia U-20 is said to be the latest participant to replace Egypt who resigned.

"Replace the Egyptian squad who resigned from the 50th Maurice Revello Tournament, we welcome Indonesia!"

"PSSI (Indonesia, ed.) will compete in this tournament for the third time," the statement read.

In this edition, the U-17 to U-23 age group tournament presented 10 participants in the men's category.

Apart from Indonesia U-20, there are Saudi Arabia, France, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Mexico, Panama, South Korea and Ukraine.

Indonesia U-20 is in Group B with Ukraine, Italy, Japan, and Panama.

Meanwhile, Indonesia U-20 has participated in two previous editions. Garuda Muda's debut occurred in 2017 or the 45th edition.

At that time, the Red-White Team joined in Group C with the Republics of Ceska, Scotland, and Brazil. Garuda Muda failed to advance to the next round because they ended the group as caretaker with three defeats from three matches.

In the second participation, namely 2022 or the 48th edition, Indonesia U-20 also failed to reach the knockout phase.

They only finished third in Group B with one win and two defeats. The only victory was won against Ghana (1-0) and two defeats were made when they met Venezuela (0-1) and Mexico (0-2).

France became the most successful team in the Maurice Revello Tournament with a collection of 13 titles.

Brazil trailed with nine trophies, England for seven titles, and Portugal and Colombia for three times as champions.

Then, Bulgaria, Argentina, and Hungary collected two titles. Meanwhile, Mexico, Italy, Russia, Ivory Coast, Chile, Serbia, Poland, Belgium, and Panama both packed one trophy.
