U-17 Women's Asian Cup Results 2024: Indonesia Beaten By Philippines 1-6

The U-17 Indonesian Women's National Team lost badly in the first match of the 2024 U-17 Women's Asian Cup against the U-17 Philippines (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-17 Indonesian Women's National Team reaped a bitter result in the inaugural match of the 2024 U-17 Women's Asian Cup in Bali. Garuda Pertiwi fell 1-6 against the U-17 Philippines.

In the match which was held at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Monday, May 6, 2024, WIB night, the six goals belonging to the Philippines U-17 were contributed by Alexa Pino (6', 35'), Jael Guy (22'), Ariana Markey (29'), and Natalie Collins (54', 62'). While the single Indonesia U-17 goal was scored by Claudia Scheunemann (12').

Despite appearing at the home of the U-17 Indonesian Women's National Team, the movement of the U-17 Filipino players was not awkward. From the first minute they dominated the attack.

In the first three minutes, two attempts to break into the Indonesia U-17 goal were carried out through Pino. Luckily, each shot went wide and was caught by goalkeeper Gadizha Asnanza.

However, in the sixth minute, the U-17 Philippines deadlock broke. Pino's header bore fruit and opened up 1-0.

Indonesia U-17 responded to the initial advantage in the 12th minute. Scheunemann's powerful shot from outside the penalty box nested in Gabrielle Baker's goal which made the score 1-1.

One minute later, the Philippines U-17 again threatened through Tea Pidding's kick which Gadizha could still save. After that, repeated attacks hit the Indonesia U-17 defense.

This time, Guy became the goalscorer in the 22nd minute. He managed to take advantage of Kieran Bradley's mature pass to beat Gadizha. The score changed again in the 29th minute when Markey's long-range shot ripped Indonesia's U-17 net and put the U-17 Philippines 3-1 up.

After trailing by two goals, Garuda Pertiwi tried to be chased in the 34th minute through Kikka Putri's long-range shot. However, Baker was still able to keep his goal well.

Instead of adding goals, the U-17 Indonesian Women's National Team returned to conceding by Pino in the 35th minute. The score became 1-4 for the advantage of the U-17 Philippines to survive until resting.

After halftime, Garuda Pertiwi was again attacked by the U-17 Philippines. The visitors' fifth goal came in the 54th minute. Collins managed to finish the bait well to bring his team to the 5-1 lead.

With a long distance, the host's efforts to catch up are very difficult. The U-17 Philippines was even more confident by adding a sixth goal in the 62nd minute.

This time, Collins followed Pino to record a brace that also led the U-17 Philippines to a 6-1 lead over Indonesia U-17 until the end of the match.
