Shin Tae-yong Disappointed With Indonesia U-23 Vs Uzbekistan U-23 Results In The Semifinals

Shin Tae-yong still appreciates Indonesia's U-23 appearance (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, admitted that he was disappointed regarding Indonesia U-23's results against Uzbekistan U-23 in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup semifinals.

Indonesia U-23 lost 0-2 to Uzbekistan U-23 in the match at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Monday, April 29, 2024, WIB night.

This means that tickets to the final round can be separated from the Red and White Team as well as make opportunities for the 2024 Paris Olympics run low.

The final result is clearly not something Shin Tae-yong hoped for. He did not cover up his disappointment, but also regretted several things from this match which were suspected to lead to the referee's controversial decision.

"First, I appreciate the extraordinary efforts of the U-23 Indonesian national team players. I think Uzbekistan U-23 is playing very well," Shin Tae-yong said after the match, quoted on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

"There is something I value a little unfortunate. However, I don't want to mention it here (the press conference)," said the 53-year-old coach.

In that match, referee Shen Yinhao did cancel Indonesia's U-23 free kick right in front of the opponent's penalty box. It didn't stop there, the referee from China also ruled out Muhammad Ferarri's goal in the 61st minute.

Goals were disallowed because Ramadhan Sananta was judged offside before Muhammad Ferarri broke into the opponent's goal. In fact, if the Persija Jakarta player's goal is approved, the conditions can be different and Indonesia U-23 has the opportunity to win the match.

Despite failing to win in the semifinals, the U23 Indonesian national team did not completely fail. The reason is, Garuda Muda still has a chance to hunt for tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
