Suffering 6 Consecutive Defeats At Anfield, Klopp: Liverpool Mentality Is Not Like Last Season

JAKARTA - Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool's mentality is no longer the same as when they performed brilliantly in the last two seasons in the Premier League.

Liverpool has slowed their home record to six straight defeats after losing to Fulham 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

"You can discuss anything, but I can't say 'Yes, we don't have the mentality'," Klopp said after the match.

"We have a mentality, but it's not the mentality we had before, but I believe the players want to win," he added.

In the match against Fulham, Klopp made seven changes to the starting eleven, and the move did not work because Liverpool only met the target three times in 16 attempted shots.

"They wanted to win today's game. I saw that. The players made mistakes and it was a problem, but it was not something they wanted and it just happened," said Klopp.

Six successive defeats at Anfield and seven defeats in the last 10 games not only ensure Liverpool will fail to defend the title, but also threaten to not reach the top four of the standings.

For Klopp, the top four matters are no longer in his head, he and the Liverpool players just want to win again.

"I understand you have to ask about that, but that question did not cross my head in the least," said Klopp.

"We have to win games, one by one, that's enough to help and then we'll see how it affects us," he concluded.

Liverpool was moved to eighth place in the standings with a collection of 43 points, after Tottenham Hotspur (45) beat Crystal Palace late in the game.

Next Monday Liverpool will travel to Wolverhampton headquarters, five days after they played the second leg of the Champions League last 16 against RB Leipzig.
