PSSI Business Lobbying Heerenveen To Release Nathan Tjoe-A-On

Nathan Tjoe-A-On is expected to join the U-23 Indonesian national team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup quarter-finals (Instagram/@nathantjoeaon).

PSSI is working on the presence of Nathan Tjoe-A-On in the U-23 Indonesian national team squad who will play the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup quarter-finals.

The attempt to lobby SC Heerenveen can be seen from the uploads shared by PSSI Executive Committee Member Arya Sinulingga.

Through his personal Instagram account, he wrote a message and hoped that the Dutch club would be willing to let Nathan go to the U-23 Indonesian national team for a while.

"We ask for your help, SC Heerenveen, so Nathan can be given permission to strengthen Indonesia U-23 in the next round of the U-23 Asian Cup," Arya wrote in an upload on Instagram quoted Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

The request was made by the federation for the second time. Previously, SC Heerenveen had been willing to release Nathan Tjoe-A-On to help the U-23 Indonesian national team struggle in the group stage.

Nathan had received permission for a week to participate in defending Garuda Muda. On that occasion, the 22-year-old player had the opportunity to appear in three group stage matches which finally bore fruit.

During the group stage, Nathan was the mainstay of the U-23 Indonesian national team. He played in all matches with a record of two starters and once as a substitute.

Although Nathan's presence was sufficient to help the team, according to PSSI and SC Heerenveen's agreement, the player had to return after the group phase was over.

Now with the qualifying of the U-23 Indonesian national team to the quarter-finals and will face South Korea U-23, Nathan's presence is so needed by the team.

If Heerenveen was not willing to let Nathan go, then this situation would be homework for Shin Tae-yong. He had to find a way to patch Nathan's midfield.
