Rowing La Memo Athletes Get Tickets For The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA Indonesia gets additional tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics through La Memo athletes from the rowing sport.

This latest ticket was pocketed by Memo after he won second place when he appeared at the Asian Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in Chungju, South Korea.

In the final match number MX1, Memo finished with a time of 6 minutes 59.74 seconds. Memo is only 0.28 seconds apart from Kazakhstan athlete Vladislav Yakovlev, who ranks first.

"We have prepared the memo and achieved the best time in heat until the second best in the semifinals. In this number, we have taken the best five to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics," said Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Rowing Sports Association (PB PODSI) Executive Board, Budiman Setiawan.

Bagi Memo, ini adalah penampilan keduanya di Olimpiade setelah sebelumnya menjalani debut di Rio de Janeiro 2016. Pada saat itu, atlet 29 tahun tersebut menhiris di peringkat ke-16 nomor men's single scills.

The rowing branch still has the last chance to fight for tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Olympic Qualification Rowing final in Switzerland, May 19-21, 2024.

"In Switzerland, Indonesia will compete in four numbers, LM2x, LW2x, M2x, M4-. The opportunity is still there, hopefully there will still be those who pass," said Budiman.

Before La Memo, several Indonesian athletes had already confirmed themselves to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

They come from shooting, weightlifting, rock climbing, artistic gymnastics, surfing, and badminton.

A number of sports also have the opportunity to increase the number of athletes to Paris later. These include athletics, swimming, canoeing, judo, and football.
