Conquering Jordan 4-1, Indonesia Qualifies For The Quarter-Finals Of The U23 Asian Cup

JAKARTA Indonesia qualified for the quarter-finals of the U23 Asian Cup, after beating Jordan with a score of 4-1 in the last match of Group A. Garuda Muda made point 6, thanks to two 1-0 wins over Australia and 4-1 over Jordan. One 0-2 defeat was obtained from Qatar's hosts.

Indonesia won 1-0 over Jordan in the first round of the last match of Group A of the U23 Asian Cup. The two teams' match was held at Abdullah bin Khaliffa Stadium, Doha, Qatar on Sunday night, April 21, 2024.

Indonesia's first goal came from a penalty spot by Marselino Ferdinand in the 23rd minute. The penalty for Indonesia was given by a referee from Kuwait, Ammar Ashkanani, after Rafael Struick was dropped in the Jordanian penalty box.

Marselino managed to complete his task smoothly. The 19-year-old's shot stabbed the right side of goalkeeper Ahmad Al-Juaidi. After the goal, Jordan, who appeared in a 4-4-2 formation, tried to retaliate.

However, the efforts of the children of coach Abdullah Abu Zema have not been able to penetrate the Indonesian goal which was guarded by Ernando Ari. In fact, Indonesia added goals through Witan Sulaeman's kick in the 40th minute. The goal was produced through good cooperation between Rizky Ridho, Marselino, and Witan.

In the second half, Indonesia still maintains the starting eleven until the 70th minute and the strategy has produced brilliant results. Garuda Muda added goals through Marselino, who managed to break into the Al-Juaidi goal in the 70th minute. Indonesia won 3-0.

Unfortunately the 3-0 position failed to be maintained. Jordan got a free goal due to the suicide by Justin Hubner in the 79th minute. The position changed 3-1.

However, Hubner's own goal actually triggered Garuda Muda to increase his advantage. This time, defender Komang Teguh Trisnanda managed to break into the Jordanian goal, Indonesia's advantage was 4-1 in the 86th minute.

An additional 10 minutes in the second half did not make both teams add goals. Indonesia's 4-1 advantage over Jordan lasted until referee Ashkanani blew the long whistle signaling the end of the U23 Asian Cup Group A match.
