Four New Players Called, Indonesian National Team Targets Victory Vs Vietnam

The Indonesian national team is confident in preparations for Vietnam (doc. PSSI).

The names of four new players were called to the Indonesian national team in the final minutes before the match against Vietnam. The decision was taken by Shin Tae-yong following the emergency situation in the squad.

The Indonesian national team will play an away match at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, WIB night. The meeting against Vietnam was a follow-up agenda for the second round of Group F of the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification.

The day before the match, Shin Tae-yong as the head coach decided to call four players off the list to follow Hanoi.

The four are Persib Bandung midfielder Rachmat Irianto, Persija Jakarta defender Muhammad Ferarri, Persebaya Surabaya goalkeeper Ernando Ari Sutaryadi, and Persikabo goalkeeper Syahrul Trisna.

The summons of the four names was carried out to overlay the team in an emergency situation. You see, a number of players are not in a fit condition due to being infected with the virus.

Pratama Arhan, Ivar Jenner, and Rafael Struick are players whose conditions are not 100 percent ready to be played in this crucial match.

"We have made preparations to be able to show good performance in the match. Maybe it will be tougher because we played at home to Vietnam. However, in my opinion, we have a chance to win," said Shin Tae-yong.

The big motivation reached the Garuda squad considering that the match against Vietnam needed to be completed with three points.

Victory is like a fixed price because it increases the chances of qualifying for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers to accompany Iraq.

As is known, Iraq is a team that is predicted to qualify for the next phase as winners of Group F.
