Ancelotti Is Optimistic That Real Madrid Will Get Rid Of The Defending Champion Of Manchester City

JAKARTA - Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is optimistic that El Real will be able to overcome the winner, Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

In the 2023/2024 Champions League quarter-final draw in Nyon, Switzerland, Friday, March 15, Real Madrid, who are champions in the 2021/2022 edition, are met with Manchester City who are the defending champions.

"Optimism is the main feeling between all of us, we are not worried. It is a big quarter-final match between two great teams. I don't know what Manchester City is thinking and whether they feel the same way as us," Carlo Ancelotti said on Real Madrid's official website., quoted by Antara, Saturday 16 March.

The coach nicknamed Don Carlo was reluctant to call the match against The Citizens a revenge match over last season Los Blancos were eliminated by Pep Guardiola's side in the semifinals with an aggregate of 1-5.

Ancelotti thinks that the quarter-final match will be the same match where his team wants to get one ticket forward to the semifinals.

"This is a quarter-final match that will help us reach the semifinals. We want to beat the opponents who play in the same competition as us. There is no sense of revenge on our part. Everyone has their own process of thinking," said Ancelotti.

"It's a tough competition and there won't be a favorite team. I wouldn't be too worried about that. They deserved to go through last year, as we did the previous year," added the former Chelsea coach.

This season, both Real Madrid and Manchester City are the remaining two teams that still maintain an unbeaten record in the Champions League.

Vinicius Junior and his friends were recorded to have won seven matches and one draw. Meanwhile, in the Manchester City camp, they still kept one hundred percent of the win by sweeping eight matches.
