NPC Indonesia Targets Two Gold Medals At The Paris 2024 Paralympics

NPC Indonesia signed a fund cooperation agreement for the 2024 Paris Paralympics (Cosmas Kopong Beda/VOI) qualification.

JAKARTA The Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) targets to bring home two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

The target was revealed by the General Chairperson of the NPC, Senny Marbun, when he received financial assistance to support the qualifications of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Office, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

"Our target is to be able to pass as many as 27 athletes and get two gold medals, each from badminton para and para-athletics," he said.

The NPC received a total of IDR 36 billion to prepare 10 sports (sports). The amount of funds received by each sport is different.

The details are para-weight (Rp2.8 billion), para-athletics (Rp7.5 billion), parabulos (Rp2.4 billion), para-swimming (Rp2.7 billion), table tennis (Rp6 billion), para-boccia (Rp1.6 billion), bicycle racers (Rp4 billion), shooters (Rp1.3 billion), parapanahan (Rp4.9 billion), and para-blind judo (Rp3 billion).

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, said he was very optimistic that paralympics could make history at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. He reflected on the history that was inscribed on the Asian Para Games last year.

"The majority of the Paralympic participants participated in the Asian Games. It was different from the SEA Games to the Paralympics. So, hopefully the Indonesian contingent can make better achievements," said Dito.

At the previous Paralympics in Tokyo 2020, Indonesia successfully brought home two gold medals. This achievement exceeded the set target.

To date, Indonesia has passed 12 paralympic athletes to Paris later. The details of the athletes who escaped were four archery, two athletics, one bicycle racing, two shooting, and three swimming.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics will take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024. This event will bring together 4,400 athletes out of a total of 23 sports competed.
