Indonesian Tablet Paratists Bring Home 9 Medals From Kazakhstan

The Indonesian paratenis team received a total of nine medals from the 2024 ITTF Astana Para Open (doc. NPC Indonesia) championship.

JAKARTA The Indonesian table tennis national team managed to bring home a total of nine medals from the 2024 Astana Para Open ITTF championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, 1-3 March 2024.

The nine medals consist of three gold medals, three silver medals, and three bronze medals. These results are very important for the Indonesian table tennis team in chasing tickets to the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Adyos Astan won the first gold medal. He won in the men's singles 4th grade after defeating his compatriot in the final, Yayang Gunaya, with a score of 3-2.

"Hopefully this result will get us closer to the points we are chasing to ensure tickets to the Paris 2024 Paralympics," said Adyos in a statement received.

The gold chip of the two Indonesian contingents was presented by the mixed doubles Yayang Gunaya/Osrita Muslim from the 7th class. In the final, Yayang/Osrita defeated Chile's representative, Luis Rodrigo Bustamante Flores/Tamaratama Leonelli, with a score of 3-1.

The next gold medal was won by Komet Akbar/Banyu Tri Mulyo. The pair won in the 18th grade men's doubles by beating Poland's doubles, Igor Misztal/Maksym Hubert Chudzicki, 3-2.

"I am proud of the extraordinary achievements achieved by our table tennis athletes. They were able to achieve extraordinary achievements even though they played in a city where the temperature was very cold and snowed every day," said Indonesian table tennis player Bayu Widhie Hapsara.

Meanwhile, three silver medals for Merah-White were presented by Yayang in the men's singles number 4, Osrita singles class 3 girls, and Adyos/Yayang men's doubles class 8.

Finally, the three bronze medals that complement Indonesia's achievements came from Agus Sutanto in the men's singles class 5, Comet Akbar in the men's singles class 10, and Leli Marlina/Osrita in the women's doubles class 10.
