Getafe Claims Greenwood Will Last One More Season Instead Of Returning To Manchester United

JAKARTA - Mason Greenwood's future is still a fight. Barcelona have already made an offer, but he wants to return to Manchester United. While Getafe as a borrower club claims the midfielder wants to stay for one more season.

Regarding Greenwood's survival at Getafe was revealed by the club president, Angel Torres. He said that the 22-year-old player would extend his loan period one season into the future.

"They asked us about it. There was a lot of talk about harassment and we know what happened."

"He has a clean conscience, he is very comfortable and crazy to last another year (with Getafe)."

"This is a problem that they (United) have to decide. There is a new (microtiential stock) ownership. They have to decide."

"In Spain, he has a market, but they (Barcelona) have money. Barca's way of playing will be suitable for him, but it depends on Manchester United. If that's true, he (Greenwood) will tell me," Torres said at The Sun.

Greenwood's performance with Getafe since being loaned from Manchester United at the start of this season has indeed garnered attention.

He has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 24 Getafe matches.

Not surprisingly, Barcelona is attracted to permanently signing it and is ready to submit a proposal to the Red Devils.

However, Old Trafford's door to Greenwood is back open. Manchester United's new minority shareholder, Sir Jim Radcliffe, revealed the possibility of repatriating the midfielder from a loan period.

"We will make a decision. I don't know if he (Greenwood) still has a future."

"All I can do is talk about the principles of how we will make decisions like that."

"Is he the right type of footballer? Are we happy with that? Is he a good person or not?"

"He (Greenwood) is a Manchester United footballer and we are responsible for him. So, the answer is pretty clear, we have to make a decision," said Radcliffe.

As is known, Greenwood has been marginalized from the Red Devils squad since January 2022. This happened because the 22-year-old player was hit by cases of alleged rape and sexual harassment.

However, the charges were dropped including alleged conditional free violations in October 2023.
