League 1 2023/2024 Results: Arema FC Steals Three Points, Persija Swallows Defeat Again

Arema FC managed to get three points to boost their position in the red zone of Liga 1 2023/2024. On the other hand, Persija Jakarta, who became the opponent, had to swallow a third defeat in a row after the competition break.

Arema FC faces Persija Jakarta in the 26th week of Liga 1 2023/2024. In the match which was held at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Monday, February 26, 2024, Singo Edan as the host managed to close the match with a 3-2 victory.

Despite appearing as the host, Singo Edan was actually made into a village first. The Kemayoran Tigers scored the opening goal of the match. Using Doni Tri Pamungkas' pass, Marko Simic was able to bring his team 1-0 up.

However, the visitors' advantage was not allowed to last long. In the 20th minute it was Singo Edan's turn to equalize. Through Charles Lokolingoy's slick pass, Didik Setiawan was able to convert to a goal and make it 1-1.

16 minutes later from his first goal, Didik Setiawan again recorded his name on the scoreboard. This time he brought the team ahead 2-1 through the execution of a penalty that lasted until halftime.

Continued in the second half, Persija Jakarta was getting hot due to the behind situation. They were finally able to balance the score to 2-2 after several golden opportunities.

Persija's second goal came from Marko Simic's brace. The Croatian re-listed his name on the scoreboard after turning Ryo Matsumura's pass into a goal in the 56th minute.

However, Thomas Doll's men got disaster two minutes after equalizing. They have to play with 10 players because Muhammad Ferrari gets a red card.

Even though the number of players is unequal, the Kemayoran Tigers are able to provide high tension for the hosts. In fact, Arema and Persija took turns making chances in order to find a winning goal.

However, Arema finally managed to take advantage of the situation. Singo Edan scored the third goal and made the score change to 3-2 through Charles Lokolingoy in the 78th minute.

The hosts' advantage lasted until the game was over. This victory made Arema move up one place to 15th position with 27 points.

For Persija Jakarta, this defeat is the third in a row after the competition break. Thomas Doll's team never won in the last three matches which put them in 12th position with 32 points.
