JAKARTA Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has ambitions to compete for the world title in MotoGP 2024.

Last season, this Austrian manufacturer got his best result by finishing in second place in the constructors' standings. In addition, their driver, Brad Binder, finished the season in fourth place of the drivers' standings.

Director of KTM Racing, Pit Beirer, said the results made them feel realistic to catch up to the top three in the drivers' standings this season.

"I mean, we are in fourth position (with Binder). So, the next realistic target is to bring the rider up the podium (world championship)," said Beirer ahead of the eighth season of KTM, quoted by Crash.

"However, we are not doing all of these efforts just to say that we will be happy to finish with the top three titles. We want to fight for the champions," he said.

KTM last season competed with Ducati who dominated the top three of the riders' standings at the end of the season. Their three riders, Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, and Marco Bezzecchi, consecutively filled first to third place.

Ducati is the world champion in the last two seasons with Bagnaia. Therefore, the Italian manufacturer is the biggest obstacle for KTM's ambition to win the MotoGP world title.

Beirer said that Ducati was clearly still a tough competitor. However, they will try their best to end the manufacturer's dominance.

"We've tried to improve our project as far as we can in every detail. That's what we've been doing since day one. Our team is full of great people and stronger than ever. Our riders are evolving at the same time," he said.

Ducati dominated the top four Sepang test timesheets, Malaysia. Aleix Espargaro from Aprilia became the best non-Desmosedici racer by taking fifth place.

Meanwhile, during the official MotoGP test session at the Lusail Circuit, Qatar, Monday, February 19, 2024, Bagnaia again became the fastest. In that session, Binder was fourth with a gap of +0,296 seconds.
