JAKARTA - PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) continue to simulate the application of video assistant referee (VAR) which will be used in various Indonesian competitions, especially Liga 1.

The latest trial was held at the Jeep Station Indonesia Resort, Megamendung, Bogor Regency, on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

This VAR simulation has been going on since June 2023 and has now reached the last or third stage.

"Now we are looking at the last stage and this is still going on with regard to human resource training (HR) for VAR."

"This third strategy has been going on for almost a month. So, the stage before this, initially it started from the props. Now (the last stage) has started with the game situation."

"Maybe it's different from the official match situation. However, at least this is an extraordinary experience," said Asep Saputra, Operations Director of PT LIB as well as Project Leader VAR.

"The point is that we want to provide a report on what we have been running from June last year to February this year," he said.

Meanwhile, VAR equipment imported is the result of a collaboration with Hawk-Eye Innovations.

The VAR is exactly the same as what was used at the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

"This demonstrated prop, all the existing equipment, exactly what we bought and used at the U-17 World Cup yesterday."

"Basically, all the equipment served by Hawk-eye is exactly like the one in the U-17 World Cup," said Ferry Paulus, President Director of PT LIB.

The months-long VAR demonstration also prepared human resources for VAR operators and their assistants (AVAR).

Before being officially tested in an official match, FIFA will come first to monitor the final stages of the VAR simulation.

After that, if you feel everything is ready, starting from human resources, equipment, to implementation, FIFA will give VAR approval to be tested in matches

"This continues. Friends also see that all the equipment already exists. So, indeed this is an important part before we do enter the phase for the FIFA approval test," said Asep Saputra.
