Thomas Doll Prepares Two Striker Installation Options For The Rest Of The Season

JAKARTA Persija Jakarta coach Thomas Doll has begun to open up the possibility to play a two striker scheme as well as for the rest of the Indonesian League 1 season.

The German coach fielded two strikers simultaneously in a 3-1 win against Persikota in a trial at Nirvana Park, Bojongsari, Thursday, February 15 afternoon.

Thomas explained that installing two strikers in this trial match is one of the options for the Kemayoran Tiger front which is still in the trial stage.

"In the trial against Persikota, I paired several forwards together. I want to see how it goes," Thomas said as quoted by the Persija Jakarta website.

In that match Thomas Doll installed Marko Simic and Gustavo Almeida for the first half. Previously, the two bombers had played together when Persija fought Borneo on February 6.

Meanwhile, in the second half he installed a duet between Aji Kusuma and Sandi Samosir. This option may be used for the rest of the season.

Thomas said that installing two strikers was at the same time only one of the options for the scheme prepared by him. So, there is no certainty whether Persija will immediately field two strikers at once or not in the remaining 10 matches it has.

"Marko and Gustavo are played simultaneously as one option. I want to see if this option is suitable or not. Of course there are other options for Persija's front line, we'll see later," he said.

Liga 1 Indonesia will be held again on Thursday, January 22, 2024. Persija is scheduled to face Madura United at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium.

Persija currently still sit in ninth position in the standings. Doll's men collect a total of 32 points from 24 matches that have been played.
