Anthony Joshua Is Alerted To Replace Oleksandr Usyk Against Tyson Fury

JAKARTA - The duel of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18, 2024. Initially, the fight was scheduled for February 17, 2024, in Saudi Arabia.

However, last week Fury suffered a serious injury to his right temple during a match, requiring 15 stitches.

At least Fury had to recover from injury for about three months.

No wonder, the match of Fury vs Usyk must be rescheduled. The election for 18 May 2024 was deemed appropriate.

However, amid the news of the rescheduling, Anthony Joshua's name surfaced to undermine the Fury vs Usyk fight.

The name AJ was echoed by Turkey Alalshikh, the boss of the general entertainment authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Alalshikh said Anthony Joshua would be alerted as a replacement for Usyk if he resigned.

"I guarantee there will be another big fight on the same night (if it is canceled)."

"If Usyk is afraid then I will call Joshua vs Fury. If Fury is afraid, I will call any fighter Usyk wants. This is a battle of the century," said Turkey Alalshikh in The Sun.

If Joshua vs Fury's fight occurs, it means Anthony Joshua returns to the ring two months after clashes against Francis Ngannou on March 8, 2024.

AJ and his team do hope to end 2024 with a fight for the world title.

Meanwhile, the historic battle between Fury and Usyk was postponed on Friday, February 2, 2024.

However, both will receive a fee of 10 million pounds if one of them manages to qualify in a long-delayed unification battle.

"I have postponed it until May 18, 2024. I guarantee the two fighters 10 million pounds if anyone escapes the fight."

"We will let people around the world know if anyone is scared," said Turkey Alalshikh again.

Turkey Alalshikh further revealed the reason he had to postpone the Fury vs Usyk duel.

"Tyson didn't want me to tell this secret. He wanted to fight on 17 (February 2024) with that shot, but I didn't let it. It would be a circus, not a fight."

"We have a deadline with the IBF and I don't want to bother with them," said Turkey Alalshikh.
