South Korea will face Australia in the 2023 Asian Cup quarter-finals (doc. AFC).

JAKARTA - The 2023 Asian Cup has entered the quarter-finals which opened on Friday, January 2, 2024. There were two matches that were held in a row in one day.

The 2023 Asian Cup competition is getting fiercer. Of the eight teams that qualified for Tajikistan, they will open the quarter-final match against Jordan.

The match between Tajikistan vs Jordan will take place at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, at 14.30 Doha time or 18.30 WIB.

Tajikistan's move to challenge Jordan in the quarter-finals is a proud record. This is the first time they will appear in the Asian Cup finals.

This means that this year's edition is the first appearance of the former PSM Makassar coach, Petar Segrt. Amazingly, their debut in the Asian Cup immediately stepped into the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Jordan, who will be his challenger, is no less classy. They were able to show an extraordinary mentality when they managed to turn things around 3-2 when they beat Iraq dramatically in the round of 16.

In that match, Jordan actually took the lead in the 45+1 minute through Yazan Al Naimat. However, Iraq was able to reply with two goals to turn the lead through goals from Saad Natiq in the 68th minute and Aymen Hussein in the 76th minute.

However, after scoring, Aymen Hussein, who celebrated, had to be given a second yellow card by the referee, so Iraq continued the match with 10 players.

This situation was able to be used by Jordan to turn the lead to 3-2 through two goals scored by Yazan Al Arab in the 90+5 minute and Nizar Al Rashdan in the 90+7 minute. Jordan also qualified for the quarter-finals.

Apart from Tajikistan vs Jordan, the match on Friday, February 2, 2024, will also feature a duel between Australia vs South Korea at Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakrah, at 18.30 Doha time or 22.30 WIB.

Australia qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Cup after a 4-0 win over the Indonesian national team in the round of 16. Meanwhile, South Korea qualified for the quarter-finals after winning on penalties against Saudi Arabia.
